Digital Education Plan

The new EU Digital Education Action Plan has completed one year since its implementation in March 2021.

This six-year (2021-2027) EU initiative renews the first Action Plan outlined for 2018-2020. In order to provide an answer to digital education development at several levels and as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, it aims at helping Member States develop their expertise in Digital Education.

This Action Plan has two fundamental areas:

  1. Fostering the development of a high-performing digital education ecosystem: enhancing digital equipment, connectivity and infrastructure; improving digital capacity planning and development; training teachers and staff in digital competencies; developing learning content;
  2. Enhancing digital skills and competences for the digital transformation: fostering a real environment of digital literacy development from an early age; developing a good knowledge of new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence; ensuring girls and women have equal representation in digital studies and careers.
